A successful afternoon of rugby and a first win of the season for captain Dave Lammin and his squad. Littlemore were out of the blocks early. Waves of attack, support line running & quick recycling saw Jason Chambers power over for his first try of the day after only 5 minutes. Hooker Grant Thomas was too impatient to wait for the kicking tee, and opted to show off his footballing skills and slot his drop goal conversion attempt.https://littlemorerfc.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/LRFC-GAB-home-converted.mp4
Gosford refused to let the early score get to them, and unleashed their winger for his first of the day. With much to do from inside his own half, he outpaced his opposite number to touch down in the corner. (7-5)
The next 15 minutes would be a true test of character for LRFC. Gosford didn’t have to do much to get back into the game. Picking out individual runners, forcing errors, quick turnovers or Littlemore’s ill discipline would play to Gosford’s advantage.
Gosford’s best effort came from inside their own half. 4 missed tackles and a breakaway for the line, the GAB lock in his luminous pink socks secured a deserved 5 points for his team.
A stern word behind the posts from the LRFC coaches, and Littlemore found a way back into the game. With the Littlemore pack making big grounds into the opposition 22, Grant Thomas (when he finished disagreeing about hair products with the Gosford front row) plowed over for Littlemore’s second.
Unfortunately for him, despite accuracy, kicker Zac champion just didn’t have the distance in his kick to slot the conversion.
Before the half, further tries from Centre Von Sims & Fergus Alexander pulled Littlemore back into the lead.
After the break, Littlemore continued their onslaught against the slowly depleting Gosford squad. Unfortunately for Gosford, injuries and lack of substitutes would hinder their chances of any comeback, and therefore it would be all about damage limitation for the remainder of the game.
Littlemore used their bench to full effect. Fresh legs, quick turnovers, and bullocking runs from the LRFC forwards would see Littlemore bag further tries.
9 in total for the day, with 4 conversions. A successful day all round, and an extremely proud captain and coaches. Well deserved for their dedication each week.
Full respect to Gosford, and we wish your injured players a speedy recovery, and all the best for the rest of your season.
