Match Report: Faringdon RFC vs Littlemore RFC 17t

Match Report: Faringdon RFC vs Littlemore RFC

17th October 2026

Littlemore RFC travelled to face unbeaten league leaders Faringdon yesterday, knowing they had a tough challenge ahead against a strong side on their home ground.

Faringdon struck early, but the opening score did little to dampen Littlemore’s determination, as LRFC continued to launch attacks and look for opportunities to get themselves back into the game. The forwards showed real grit and determination, with dominance in the scrums demonstrating that Littlemore were more than ready for the battle.

A standout moment came courtesy of guest player Lesley Sackey, who produced a lovely try after running around the defence and racing down the wing. It was a fantastic finish that gave Littlemore belief and showed what they were capable of against the league leaders.

Unfortunately, the celebrations were short-lived, as captain Dev Thomas suffered a suspected cracked rib shortly afterwards. Another setback for a side already facing a difficult task, but the lads continued to dig deep and give everything they had on the pitch.

Although the final score of 61–5 tells a tough story, it certainly doesn’t reflect the effort, commitment and fight shown by the Littlemore players throughout the match. Facing the unbeaten league leaders away from home was never going to be easy, but the team kept pushing, battling in the set pieces and showing plenty of heart until the final whistle.

In recognition of their performance, Faringdon selected Will Wilson as our Man of the Match — a well-deserved recognition from the opposition.

Despite the result, there were positives to take away, and the lads can be proud of the effort they put in against a formidable side. The focus now turns to the next fixture at home against Banbury next Saturday and looking to build on the positives and keep moving forward.

Heads up, Littlemore. We go again!

In Memory of Jenny Bosley

In October 2026, I will be taking on the Oxford Half Marathon in memory of my nan and to raise money for the RFU Injured Players Foundation, a charity that was incredibly close to her heart. On 6th October 2025, she passed away, and it left a huge hole in our lives. Taking on this challenge is my way of celebrating the incredible woman she was and continuing the support she showed to me and so many people throughout her life.

LRFC vs Quins III - Match Report 3rd October 2026

LRFC vs Quins III - Match Report
3rd October 2026

With a full twenty-man squad raring to go, the boys in blue took to the pitch. Temperate autumn weather and bright sun overhead laid the groundwork for what promised to be a cracking day of rugby.

The first half opened with an early statement from Quins, who found an early gap and cut sharply through Littlemore’s defensive line to take the lead. The setback was short-lived, however. Off a dominant set-piece, Jason Chambers barreled over the line, backed by a massive drive from the engine room. George Pride slotted the conversion flawlessly to put Littlemore ahead.

The game quickly turned into a battle of territory, with the ball repeatedly going into touch. A series of well-worked lineouts gave Littlemore the platform they needed, allowing Will Massey to power through a tight Quins defence for Littlemore's second try. Pride once again stepped up to add the extra two points, proving why he holds the crown as Littlemore's finest boot.

The second half turned into a gruelling, physical affair dominated by scrums. Littlemore’s pack remained fierce, consistently shoving Quins back and earning hard-fought ground. However, early fumbles out wide stalled the attack, preventing the ball from reaching the backs—a lapse Quins were all too eager to exploit.

Most of the game played out in Littlemore’s half as the boys fought valiantly to clear their lines, repeatedly coming up just ten metres short of safety. Quins’ number 11 proved the differentiator, utilising quick feet and sharp sidesteps to turn defence into attack and shift the scoreboard back in their favour.

A disciplined, hard-fought contest from start to finish, both sides left everything on the pitch—with Quins holding out despite picking up an early yellow card. Will Wilson’s appearance and fantastic tackling earned him Man of the Match.

Final Score: 14 - 27
