🏉Littlemore 55 v Abingdon 2’s 12

Littlemore welcomed Abingdon 2’s to HQ on Saturday. With a HWO already awarded earlier in the season, Saturday’s fixture would unfortunately (for Abingdon) be awarded again as a walkover for the second time this season.

That aside, and with full respect to Abingdon, they wanted to fulfil the game to the best of their ability and play it out as a friendly. With both sides balanced up as 12v12, the game got underway – much to the delight of all the players and spectators.

A difficult game to write up about given the circumstances, but some memorable moments nonetheless.

A young Will Massey with an early try. Then shortly after looking to double his tally by making a break from inside his own half, chipping ahead and just needing to touch down at the opposite end. A cruel bounce and fumble of the ball, saw all his effort amount to some pitch side vomiting and an early shower!

Captain Jason Chambers later showed young Massey how it was done. Unable to be caught, he himself went the full length and through the quicksand in the final 10 metres, to touch down under the posts.

Dave Lammin bagging himself a brace of tries to stretch the lead late on. Nathan Adams (centre) showing off some fancy footwork to outsmart his opposite number for a try, and also sharing kicking duties with (wing)George Pride who also found his way over the whitewash for a try himself.

Prop Dev Thomas with a sprint down the wing and swiping aside any attempts to be tackled and touching and touching down beneath under the posts.

Archie Keown, when back in Littlemore colours following a first half stint for Abingdon, sprinted away for a well read interception and bag the last try of the game.

And finally, a well deserved ‘man of the match’ performance, and smashing over for his first ever try in the game, Dom Palmer had good reason to celebrate – and celebrate he did judging by the pictures circulating on the players chat group Sunday morning!

A great end to 2025. Sitting comfortably in 3rd place behind Aylesbury 2’s and Didcot 2’s in the league, it’s all to play for after the Christmas break.

One final friendly to go, away this weekend coming (20th December) away at Gosford 3’s, then it’s a short break before returning January 17th V Grove 2’s (H)
