Littlemore travelled to Swindon for their final game of the season against Swindon College Old Boys II. It was a bright and beautiful day, offering perfect conditions for a wide-open game of rugby.
The match began with high intensity, though Littlemore suffered an early blow when returning player Rob Hilton was forced off with an injury just two minutes in. Swindon immediately seized the momentum, keeping the visitors pinned deep in their own half. While the Swindon pack proved to be an unstoppable force in the scrum, Littlemore found success in the air, effectively disrupting the home side’s lineouts and securing several key steals.
Jason Chambers broke the deadlock for Littlemore, crossing the line and adding the conversion to give his side an early lead. However, Swindon responded with clinical force, turning the tide to lead 14–7 at the interval.
The second half became a war of attrition as fatigue set in. Littlemore’s resolve was tested further by a string of injuries, with Grant Thomas and Nathan Adams both suffering shoulder knocks, and Steven Brandish forced from the field following a heavy blow to the head. In a display of great sportsmanship, Swindon supplied the visitors with extra players to keep the contest going.
As the clock ticked down, Swindon’s backline began to shine, executing seamless passing moves that consistently penetrated the defence. Despite Littlemore’s best efforts to hold the line, they were ultimately undone by the hosts’ superior pace and fresh legs. The final whistle brought an end to a tough afternoon, with Swindon emerging as 46–7 victors.
Final Score: Swindon College Old Boys II 46 – 7 Littlemore
