Grove vs Littlemore XV

Saturday 22nd November 2025

📍Grove RFC

🏉Grove 2’s V Littlemore

The squad headed to Grove rugby club for their fourth game of the season. The forecast across the county was set to be wet-and wet it was!!

With the weather conditions being so poor, there was little chance of much running rugby, and should anyone from either side make half a break, chances of physically holding onto the ball in contact would prove to be a challenge.

Grove managed to get on the scoreboard early with a penalty kick at goal, but it wasn’t long before Littlemore found a way into the game and securing a lead into half time.

Tries from No 8 Darren Warne, and hooker Darren Massey, saw Littlemore end the half 3-14 up with both try’s converted by outside centre Shaun Eadle.

The lead would come at a cost though, with early injuries to fly half Jack Massey (shoulder), and his younger brother Will (eye) both leaving the field for medical treatment. After a lot of switching round, Littlemore found both starting props move out into the centre positions, and replacements being brought in by way of returning prop Danny Greaney, and Captain Jason Chambers moving into the front row with Will Gilchrist slotting into second row.

With the second half underway, Littlemore stretched out their lead with another (unconverted)try, this time from replacement 2nd row Will Gilchrist, taking their lead to 3-19.

Grove found their way back in to the game themselves. A kick downfield saw their winger pounce on to the loose ball and touch down for a converted try.

But Littlemore dug deep. Resisting any wave of pressure from the Grove forwards, forcing them back into their own half repeatedly. Late in the second half, Littlemore opted to take an easy kick at goal for a further 3 point penalty to stretch their lead on the scoreboard.

Ending 10-22, it was a well earned, hard fought, MUDDY victory on the road.
