Abbymore (Littlemore & Abingdon cluster team) U14s vs Henley 5-55Abbymore U14s took to the field Sunday against a very strong and well-drilled Henley side. Despite the final scoreline, the boys showed real determination and moments of individual brilliance throughout the game.There were flashes of excellent skill across the team, with Daniel Bagdadi earning Man of the Match for a well-taken try and his constant attacking intent.Freddie Smith, our Coaches’ Player, put in a number of outstanding tackles at full back, showing real courage and commitment in defence.While teamwork and communication will be the focus going forward, there were plenty of positives to take from today’s performance — not least the effort, attitude, and willingness to keep playing to the final whistle. With continued hard work, the results will soon follow.

Insta: carspottingwithozzyWith Storm Amy still loitering around on Saturday afternoon, we battened down the hatches, and headed down pitchside for a blustery afternoon of rugby.A trip along the A420, Swindon COB arrived at back HQ for the first time since the mid 2000’s. Whilst much has changed, a few players can recall the last time they played each other. Despite players being slighty older, greyer and maybe a bit wiser, the game remains much the same.Unfortunately for Swindon, they arrived low on numbers, but we thank them for arriving and fulfilling the fixture nonetheless. With the walkover win already secured, Littlemore offered up 4 players to Swindown, and the game got underway 14v14.With debutant Dom Palmer almost certain to get his first ever game of rugby played in a Littlemore jersey, come kick off, never did he imagine his first game would be starting for the opposition, as he, Archie Keown (9), Rob Hilson (6) & Grant Wilson (8) bolstered up the Swindon squad.80 points scored - 12 tries, 10 conversions, there is plenty to write about, but on this occasion, the scoreline speaks for itself. A huge imporovement in gameplay and style for Littlemore since their last run out, and also 1st tries for the club for Dev Thomas, (late addition) George (Wing), and Jack Perry (13)On a sad note, we bid farewell and good luck to Second row player Nick Stevenson, as he heads back North across the border back to his homeland. We thank you for the last few years, and we look forward to the possibility of a touring match in the near future.Onto next week, we hit the road across to Buckinghamshire to face Aylesbury 2’s.

We finally kick off our league campaign this Saturday on home soil versus Swindon College Old Boys at 2:30pm.The squad go into the game high on confidence, following their successful pre season friendly 2 weeks ago.Pulling on the jersey for the first time is front row replacement Dom Palmer. Having only joined us back in early summer, and never having played rugby before, his game understanding and ability has gone from strength to strength.

After many weeks of preparation both on and off th

After many weeks of preparation both on and off the pitch for the new season, we welcomed Gosford All Blacks 3’s to HQ.A real blend of both youth and veteran players for both sides, (with Littlemore debuting 3 new players ), we were set for a great afternoon of rugby.Things got underway at 2:30, and unfortunately for Gosford, it was an early injury to their hooker from the kick off. Forcing an early shuffle in the pack, replacement hooker Jason Beesley stepped straight in.With play finally restarted, Littlemore showed early dominance. A lineout deep in the opposition 22, played out to the backs , saw flanker Callum Dickerson power over for a converted try, giving Littlemore an early lead of 7-0.Much of the first half following remained an equal battle for territory. Unforced errors, and repeat penalty offences stopped any flow to the first half.Leading up to half time, Littlemore were awarded a scrum. As they powered forward for what looked like a push over try, Scrum Half Vinnie picked up the loose ball that had popped out the back and touched down under the posts for Littlemore’s second try. An easy one for Shaun Eadle to slot for the conversion 14-0Second half underway, and the weather took a turn for the worse, with heavy rain beginning to fall, making conditions slippery and challenging for both teams. Gosford found fortune for their efforts, and a break away try saw them get on the the scoreboard for an unconverted try. 14-5With scrums being forced to uncontested, and with plenty of fresh legs from the bench, the game become a Littlemore free flowing, but despite both teams efforts, the scoreline remained 14-5 at the final whistle.

⚪️🔵🏉 With the rugby season for Littlemore Rugby men’s team getting underway this weekend, we grabbed an opportunity to delve into the mind of head coach, Russell Hixon, ahead of the first friendly fixture on Saturday.One of the original life members, and captaining the side back in 1987-88 season, Russell has been part of the many successful seasons at LRFC, but has also endured some of the most difficult times too throughout his coaching career with the club.His commitment and dedication to coaching the squad is a feat in itself. Spanning over 20 years, his efforts have gone a long way to ensuring the Littlemore Rugby Club remains an important part of the rugby landscape, and for that, we thank him.Therefore, we ask that the members of LRFC, their families, extended friends, and those from
the community, show support to Russell and his squad over the coming weeks and months. In our anniversary year, it would be wonderful to see you all on the sidelines each week supporting the squad.
