A new chapter begins
With the 2019-2020 season being drawn to a close early due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we waited anxiously to find out our fate, having been expunged from the league back in December.
It’s not the first time in the club history that we have suffered mid season, but after the success of league promotions and being County Shield winners back in 2017/18, it looked as though we’d turned a corner for the foreseeable future but the 2018/19 turned out to be detrimental to all that had been previously achieved.
The 2019/20 got off to a slow start-very slow, and by December 2019, the 1st team had unfortunately been expunged from BBO Premier.
With the return of Club Founder Lynn Evans back in the coaching seat, and a mammoth effort from a few die-hard members along with Oxfordshire RFU, we managed to get some regular fixtures and an influx of new players in the new year. We were back on track-that was until Covid-19 reared its ugly head and spoiled all the fun!
Roll forward to May 2020, and we can finally say we will play in Berks/Bucks/Oxon division 3. With the exception of Aylesbury, Stow on the Wold & Buckingham, its back to local fixtures, taking on Abingdon, Bicester, Chinnor, Grove, Gosford, Harwell, Oxford & Wheatley teams.
It’s a long way from the experience in Southern Counties North back in 2018/19, but much of what existed back then has now gone.
We begin a new chapter at Littlemore RFC, with new faces and a new challenge, and also Lynn Evans returning in the new season as head coach, he will have the lads fully motivated for when they can get back to playing.
